Stockholm is an international city with any number of events taking place at any one time so you can be sure that something will be going on during your stay. A great resource for events information during your stay in Stockholm is ‘What’s on Stockholm’ a periodical magazine available in local news agents with up to the minute listings of events taking place in the city.
Below we have put together a list of some of the more popular annual events taking place in Stockholm to get you started;


 
June:


Smaka på Stockholm – Taste Stockholm
June 1st – 6th
Central park Kungsträdgården
Incredible food fair where all the restaurants n the city come out and set up stalls offering food at very reasonable prices.


Midsummer's Eve celebrations at Skansen
Around Jun 23 (dates vary, always on a Friday).

Midsummer celebrations where the Swedes put flowers in their hair and dance around a maypole holding hands.


July:


Stockholm Jazz Festival
July 18th – 22nd
Skeppsholmen Island
Annual event with some of the biggest international Jazz stars performing over five days in July.

 

August:


Stockholm Pride
Jul 31-Aug 6
Söder's Tantolunden and various other locations
Largest Scandinavian gay pride celebrations with restaurants music and bars set up in the park at Söder's Tantolunden and culminating in an impressively colourful street parade.


 
November:

Stockholm Film Festival
November17th – 27th
Various Cinemas
Annual international film festival divided into various categories to incorporate the whole world of cinema.


December:


Nobel Prize Day
December 10th
Concert Hall at Hötorget
Probably the most important annual event in all of Stockholm but unfortunately not open to the public. During the afternoon, King Carl XVI Gustaf presents the Nobel Prize in economics, chemistry, physics, medicine and literature.
