Oland travel guide

Oland is the second largest of the Swedish islands and is 136 km long and a maximum of 16 km wide. This island located in the Baltic Sea just off the coast of Sweden is connected to the city of Kalmar on the mainland by one of the longest bridges in Europe (but not the longest in Sweden).
The island of Oland is a big favourite with Swedish tourists and thanks to an unusually high amount of sunshine in the summer months is the main beach destination in Sweden.
Oland is not just a beach destination though, it is also home to 16 castles one of which is Borgholm castle one of the most impressive castles in Sweden which is located 1km south of Farjestaden. The island is also home to many rare species of birds and other wildlife.
The main town/city is Borgholm.
