Getting to Oland:

The main way into the island of Oland is via the Oland bridge that crosses the Kalmar strait from Kalmar in mainland Sweden to Färjestaden in Oland. Kalmar Airport is situated 5 km from Kalmar and is served by scheduled flights from Stockholm and Copenhagen.  A bus service runs from the airport to Kalmar city centre from where you can arrange onward travel across the bridge to  Oland.

There is a ferry that travels across the Kalmar straits to Oland from Oskarshamn in mainland Sweden to Byxelkrok on Oland

Getting around Oland:

If you are thinking of viewing a lot of the island of Oland you are probably advised to rent a car either at kalmar airport or in Kalmar itself before you cross the bridge over to Oland.

The terrain in Oland is very flat which makes it ideal for exploring via Bicycle. Bicycles can be rented in Kalmar. From May to September no Cycling is allowed on the Oland Bridge and a special Free bus service is available to transport your bicycle across to the island.
