Malmo travel guide

Malmo is the third largest city in Sweden and located at the southern most tip of the country making it the city with the warmest climate in Sweden.
Part of Denmark until 1658, Malmo is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in Sweden with a vast range of cultures and nationalities filling the streets with an international air.
A once very industrial city, Malmo has seen much change in modern times with the opening of a university in 1998 and the construction of two of the most stunning pieces of architecture in Sweden, the Turning torso building by Santiago Galatrava and the Oresund Bridge. The Oresund Bridge inaugurated in 2000 is the longest bridge in Europe and connects the city of Malmo with the city of Copenhagen in Denmark.
For those visitors looking for shops and restaurants Malmo does not disappoint a vast array of shops to keep even the keenest of shoppers happy and its own food festival during the third week of august, Malmöfestivalen.
Malmo is a city that is pleasing to the eye with archetctural offerings from the 16th century next to those of modern times and what seems to be an endless expanse of public parks (Malmo is fondley refered to as the City of parks by the locals). Malmo is a great city in which to take a break or as a launching pad to explore the surrounding areas and even take in Copenhagen and get two city breaks for the price of one!
