Travelling to Gotland:

By Air
Visby Airport is located about 5 km North of Visby itself. Unfortunately there is only a bus service to the city in June, July and August during the rest of the year you will have to either hire a car or take a taxi both of which are available at the airport.
The Airport is connected to the mainland via various airlines serving the following destinations; Copenhagen Airport (seasonal), Gothenburg-Landvetter Airport (seasonal), Linköping Airport, Stockholm - Bromma Airport, Ängelholm - Helsingborg Airport (seasonal), Ronneby Airport (seasonal), Stockholm - Arlanda Airport), Oslo Airport (seasonal)

By Sea
The Journey time from the mainland to Gotland by ferry is about 3hours and ferries depart from either Nynäshamn south of Stockholm, or Oskarshamn in the southeast of Sweden.
The ferry terminal is about a five minute walk from the centre of Visby and both car hire and taxis are available in the harbour area.

Getting around:

Cycling is a great way to appreciate Gotland, the land is very flat and there are a number of designated cycling paths throughout the island. Bicycles can be hired from rental shops in Visby.

There are a number of smaller islands around Gotland that can be reached by chartered boat trips from Visby. These smaller islands are Gotska Sandön, Stora Karlsö, Lilla Karlsö and Fårö and are famous for their natural beauty.

There are a number of Bus and coach companies that operate on the island offering guided excursions and tours. These buses generally leave from Visby town centre and further details should be found at the local tourist office.

Taxis are available throughout the island
