Gothenburg’s status as the second largest city in Sweden is evident in the abundance of attractions and places of interest available to visitors.
Gothenburg is home to one of the leading botanical gardens in all of Europe spanning a total area of 175 hectares and boasting over 16,000 varieties of plant life. A couple of musts when visiting the botanical gardens are the amazing collection of 1,500 Orchids and the international award winning rock garden.

Liseberg amusement park is one of the most popular attractions in all of Sweden and has been voted as one of the top 10 amusement parks in the world. With a one day ‘ all inclusive’ ticket for SEK 270 visitors can enjoy some of the greatest thrills available anywhere. The park is famous for the ‘ Balder’ rollercoaster, a wooden track roller coaster twice voted the best of its kind in the world. Visitors fortunate enough to visit the park at Christmas will be gifted with an amazing array of Christmas lights and one of the largest Christmas markets in Scandinavia.

For those travellers looking for a little bit of culture the newly opened Gothenburg Opera House is probably just the thing. Home to the Opera and the ballet the building was completed late in 1994 and boasts seating for 1,301 persons.
The Southern Gothenburg Archipelago located just off the coast of Gothenburg is another popular destination for visitors to the city. This sprawling spatter of islands, islets and rocks is home to just 5,000 permanent residents and is a completely car free zone making it a wonderful spot to escape the city buzz and get in touch with nature.
