Gothenburg is the largest University city in Scandinavia and therfore has somewhat of a Student culture. The city is famous throughout the world for its Death Metal style of music that has even been renamed in some circles as Gothenburg Metal. The musical movement in Gothenburg is not limited to heavy metal though, indeed the city is a centre for Swedish pop music and home to the internationally acclaimed Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra.
Cultural events in Gothenburg are both far reaching and international in flavour. The Gothenburg film festival held every year is the largest film festival in Sweden and the Gothenburg City Theatre host a number of cultural stimulating events.

Museum of World Culture

A rich trade and industrial heritage has helped shape many of the cultural institutions in Gothenburg and allowed the finance for many of the museums and galleries that help make Gothenburg a city rich in Cultural attractions.
Gothenburg is also home to the Museum of World Culture, a museum looking openly at cultures from around the world, their effects on people and other cultures.
